Growing Green in More Ways Than One for a Brighter Future
John Bales – President and CEO of BioDynamic Ventures has created a college program for local Hoosier students. These students were tasked with writing an agricultural business plan. John mentored them and outlined the main points of what would be needed to put all the pieces together to operate their first business. These students are farming 16 acres on the south side of Indy with BioDynamic organic hemp plants. These young entrepreneurs cleared a field, created raised beds, covered their rows and planted over 30,000 plants. They will manage the field until September / October and then harvest these plants. The plants will be shredded into biomass and then undergo a thermal extraction process. From there they will send their product to be tested and then arrange for the isolate or distillate to be sold to Denver CBD and bottled and produced into a tincture or one of the many products that Denver CBD is distributing.
John believes that a solid college foundation is a key to success in business. To encourage the students, John has arranged that the team will be paid out 50% of their profits upfront and the other half will be distributed upon graduation. If these entrepreneurs do not graduate, they will forfeit the other half of their profits. The estimated payout for this summer project could be between $20 and $40K
These students will be attending University of Notre Dame, Indiana University Duke University, University of Cincinnati, Miami University.
